Kenai Fjords National Park

Exit Glacier Rd
Seward, AK 99664
(907) 224-7500

Description:

One of the few national parks in Alaska that have road access, Kenai Fjords National Park's most popular site is on the northeastern end of the park, close to the town of Seward. Here, a road lets visitors get incredibly close to the Exit Glacier, where short trails provide a variety of views of the amazing ice flow. Most of the park is not reachable by vehicle, however, with boat tours providing the best way for tourists to see the park in comfort. Led by private tour companies, these boat trips depart from Seward and offer not only sights of towering fjords and ancient glaciers, but also the possibility of seeing marine life like whales and sea lions. The Harding Icefield is an impressive sight, but there are few ways to see it, with flights over the fields being the most common way of sightseeing in this area. Trips deeper into the park than either a bot tour or visiting the Exit Glacier require a great deal of forethought and preparation, with backcountry hiking being the only way to really travel through the park itself.

Hours of Operation:
